Farewell to the Goole Waterboats

A Goole based company which has been supplying water to visiting ships for over 100 years has ceased trading. Goole Docks Fresh Water Company has been run for the last 40 years by Mr T. Hudson with offices based on Aire Street the company was involved in selling fresh water to ships visiting the port, the water which was used for drinking, washing and general domestic use. It would seem that the way the water was being transported by the barges to the ships and a change in the rules by way this was carried out has been the main factor in the company deciding to close down. Both the barges have been offered for sale on a local boat brokerage website. below is our tribute to the Water Boats. Both the two other company's business's  of Mooring and Tendering are continuing to be operated from the same site.
